Remember that there are many types of offense in college football today. While the the pro style offense is still going strong at many schools more and more teams run a spread style with lots of running from the QB, and some still run the option which also relies on many plays to be made by the QBs feet. In keeping with our Sim standards all offensive styles are of course welcome. This does dictate that you must use your whole playbook and not just your favorite plays, especially if you are going to us an offense that gives the ball to a mobile QB much of the time.

Offensive shifting of players (Motion) is limited to 1 individual player movement per play. However, if the DB runs with the motion man (Man-to-Man Coverage), the DB must be allowed to set before the ball can be snapped. Meaning, if the Defense is in man coverage, you can not snap the ball while the Motion man is still in motion. Hot routes are not considered audibles therefore there are no limits on hot routes. Also note that during any passing play[/i] a player (WR or TE) who goes in motion and enters the pocket (area between the offensive tackles) must be set before the offense can snap the ball. To further clarify, you may use your WRs and TEs as extra blockers on running plays as this happens in real football, but having a WR/TE/RB in motion and hiking the ball while in motion as he is between the Offensive Tackles in order to get match ups advantages with WRs being covered by LBs is ILLEGAL. Multiple motion with the same across the formation several times just to frustrate your opponent is not legal. ***So in essence to sum it all up your motion man must clear the Tackle before you can snap the ball on any play (run or pass) that uses MOTION.***
Note: Motion is an integral part of both College and Pro Football. Use it responsibly and please do not cheese or cheapen the game with it. Also do not motion just to be motioning. Multiple motion with the same across the formation several times just to frustrate your opponent is not legal.
ONE EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE IS.....................press coverage! If someone is using bump and run on you the WR does not have to be set, but he mush have cleared the TKL and or the TE before you may snap the ball.

No Huddle : DO NOT ABUSE THE NO HUDDLE RULES -- Quick huddles are only permitted within the final 2 minutes of each half and any OT period. Offense must allow defense to get back onside and set. If an offsides penalty is called, the defense decides whether or not the penalty is accepted or declined by pausing the game and announcing their decision. You MUST HUDDLE after a play that results in the clock stopping. such as : Incomplete passes, out of bounds; in essence ANY PLAY WHERE THE CLOCK STOPS YOU MUST HUDDLE. Excessive audibles RULES APPLY for when running NO HUDDLE offenses. YOU MAY NOT AUDIBLE 3, 4 or 5 times when no huddling and you MUST let the Defense set. If we find coaches beginning to abuse the no huddle rules of the league, the no huddle offense may be banned period. PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE IT!
You may use the no-huddle offense in the 3rd quarter at any time if you trail by 21 or more, and in the 4th quarter if you trail by 9 or more.
#4
Goal Line Offense : Goal Line is for Goal Line (inside the 10 yard line) and for SHORT YARDAGE (3rd/4th down and 2 or less) ONLY! Note: Every playbook has enough short yardage sets that goal line is NOT necessary on 1st and 2nd down. DO NOT USE GOAL LINE TO MOVE UP AND DOWN THE FIELD.
#5
The 4th down rules and kicking/punting
Anywhere in your opponent's 30-39 yard line it is acceptable to go for it, and 4th and 1 or less from your OWN 40 to your opponents goal line is acceptable. You are permitted one[/i] fake FG or punt per game. 4th down attempts from the 5 and inside is acceptable. A 4th down hailmary at the end of the half is also acceptable.
The 4th quarter does have some different rules though.
The losing team can go for it from anywhere on the field regardless of "To Go" yardage.
In a tie game or if you are a team leading by 8 points or less if it is 4th and 1 yard or less on your opponents side of the 50 the team may go for it. If you have the ball on your side of the field you must punt.
The team with a lead of 9 or more points (two scores) must kick a FG or punt on 4th down no matter what the yardage.
Note : In the case of overtime you may fake a kick at any time.
#6
Onside Kicks : You must do an onside kick from the onside formation, no onside kicks from a normal kick formation. You may onside kick ONLY in the 4th quarter and only if you are down by 14+ points. HOWEVER, in the final 3 minutes of the game you may onside kick being DOWN any amount of points. If there is a tie score, then you MAY NOT go for an onside kick.
Note: Abusing the onside kick in not encouraged; however, using onside kicks as a last ditch effort to attempt to catch up in the 4th quarter is permitted. However, onside kick recovery is not the norm but the exception. So, if there is found to be a glitch or means of always recovering an onside kick, then that glitch will be banned! PERIOD! If you ARE LEADING at any time, you may also not onside kick at any time.
#7
Quarterback Play : You MAY NOT drop your QB more than 10-13 yards UNLESS you are under extreme pressure, or it is a designed screen play. This rule is in place to prevent the popular tactic of dropping your QB 15-25 yards deep to allow your WRs time to break free from defensive coverage. QB Roll-outs are deemed legal. However, be careful that you are not dropping the QB too far back from the line of scrimmage. The 10-13 yard rule still applies to Roll Out plays. Please do not abuse the roll-out, because we will ban it if it becomes a problem.
Note : Mobile QBs are a part of the game, but do not call pass plays with the sole intention of taking advantage of defensive AI flaws, there are designed QB run plays for a reason. Use of this as a type of offense is strictly prohibited. The only times a QB should running are a draw, option play, or if scrambling to evade a heavy rush.
IMPORTANT: Players who drop their QB excessively deep in the pocket FOR THE PURPOSE of using the QB to escape the D-Line pressure, break the DBs coverage of your WR, and use the QB to get outside the defensive line to run the football on a passing play will be considered in violation of league rules. There are more than enough designed QB plays for running the football. DO NOT EXPLOIT DEFENSIVE AI by excessively DROPPING YOUR QB more than 13 yards in the pocket.
#8
Playaction & Pump-fakes : Playaction passing is a big part of some run heavy offenses, but it is easy to abuse. There are a few times we should never see playaction in this league : #1 3rd and long the only time on 3rd down you should ever even think about playaction is if it is like 2 yards or less to go. #2 when down late in the game and you are trying to come back, if you are in a situation when you need points fast the defense will be looking for the pass of course and calling playaction at this time is purely cheese as it messes with the games AI.
Pump-fakes : TBA we do not yet know if they will be a problem in 07 with the defenses jumping if you do this multiple times.
#9
Running the clock : You may run down the clock if you have the lead starting when there are less than 2 minutes to play in the 4th quarter. Any clock running before then will not be allowed. The ONLY exception to this rule is if both owners agree to do so in a blowout.
#10
THE LOB : Banned
#11
HB direct : To be used as a trick play only, meaning this is not something you should be calling every game let alone every drive. If it is abuse it will be banned just like the lob.
#12
ASK CORSO: Not allowed any time for any reason, call you own play.
#13
Trick plays : TBA We will have to wait and see how this play out with so many more trick plays in 07 than in previous editions of the game, and if the become a problem we will be making rules for them as well.

Mercy Rule and Sportsmanship
If at any point you go over 35 points in a lead, REMOVE your starters and play a conservative style of offense. With the difference in talent of teams and coaches, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why you would need to roll up a win over your opponent. The coaches in this league who control "lesser" teams are the BACKBONE of the league and should not be made to suffer horrible defeats so guys can prove
whatever it is they prove with a 50 point win. THIS IS THE EPITOMY OF BAD SPORTSMANSHIP and will be dealt with quickly and severely. What's the difference between a 35 point win and a 50 point win? Bad sportsmanship. I don't want to, and shouldn't have to tell you to try not to score. But if you need someone to tell you, then consider this me telling you.
